Welcome to Daimalos...Views of the area

This tiny whitewashed village, famed for its rich “Oloroso” wine, is about twelve kilometres from the coast and fifty from Málaga airport. It has a population of about fifty souls and belongs to the municipality of Arenas – the small town just one and a half kilometres down the road. Daimalos is thought to have been named from the Arabic for “farmhouse”. It is almost a hamlet, but has some interesting monuments, including the Arabic “fountain of love”. Its water, if drunk, are said to have aphrodisiacal powers and any single person drinking from the fountain is expected to be marry soon. The church, Iglesia de la Concepcion built on the site of a mosque, houses some important paintings while a Mudejar minaret built in the thirteenth century will also be of interest to the visitor. For walkers and nature lovers there are many interesting local walks to be explored and enjoyed.
