This is one of the smallest villages in the Axarquia region. It has a
population of about forty people and lies in a lovely valley setting at
about 400 metres above sea level. Time has stood still here and to sit
on one´s terrace in the evening listening to the goatherds directing
their herds back to their pens is to savour the peace and tranquility
of country life. However, a recently provided tarmacked road has made
life easier for the inhabitants and the village a little more accessible.
Four foreign families have already made their homes in the town which
depends on the cultivation of the traditional groves of almond and olive
trees as well as vineyards. A river runs down through this peaceful valley
and the visitor finds it difficult to imagine that only a half hour by
car takes you into another world; the friendly bustling coastal resort
of Torre del Mar. Access to the village is from the main road north from
Velez-Malaga, capital of the Axarquia.
