Puente don Manuel is a small village in the lovely Axarquia region of the province of Málaga. It is on a crossroads located north from the coastal town of Velez-Malaga approximately 14 kms away. Alternatively it can be reached from the provincial capital Málaga 40 kms to the west. From the village the traveller can continue north through Zafarraya, in the foothills of the Sierra Tejeda mountains, into the province of Granada.

In times long past travellers rested here on their journeys into the Axarquia region or other destinations in the province of Granada.

In recent times the village has become popular for those seeking a tranquil location in this sunny valley setting, to set up a permanent home. The village enjoys the rural tranquillity of the countryside but is well within easy reach of the coast and the new coastal motorway.
