A fifteen minute drive from the main road north from Velez-Malaga, capital of the Axarquia region, takes you to these two charming and secluded hamlets where time seems to have stood still. They are set in a green valley surrounded not only by the traditional almond and olive groves and vineyards but also by tropical fruit plantations where avocado, mango and chirimoya trees are thriving. This small community is about 450 metres above sea level and the population of the two hamlets combined is about sixty souls. The origin of the hamlets is unknown but they could possibly have been founded by people fleeing the pirate attacks on the coast in bygone times. The senior members of the community take life easy in the shade and one feels that this has been going on for centuries. Another area where one could easily have a tranquil and secluded lifestyle. Access is from the motorway north from Velez-Malaga, capital of the Axarquia.
